Tori no Ichi, la fête des râteaux
Tori no Ichi, the rakes festival
"Tori no ichi" is a traditional festival held on the days of the rooster ("Tori" in Japanese) during the whole month of November (the month of the rooster in the traditional calendar) in the precinct of Ôtorisama shrines (it means literally the shrine of the "Big Bird"). Many stalls are built in the precincts of the shrine and sell colorful rakes, which work like amulets to bring luck and fortune to small shop or business owners.
