An Edo Bunraku sakusha who was also the manager of a shibai jaya located in the Yűkiza puppet theater in the district of Fukiya-chô. He worked on at least 7 plays and his three most famous contributions were for "Koi Musume Mukashi Hachijô" (1776) and "Meiboku Sendai Hagi" (1785) and the new year sogamono drama "Saikai Soga Nakamura" (1793). He died in 1798.

Matsu Kanshi was the pen name of the actor Nakamura Kichiemon II, who has never considered himself as being Matsu Kanshi II.
