Dates of birth and death unknown. He was trained in inaka shibai. He settled in Kyôto in Fall 1710 and he made his debut in ôshibai in the 11th lunar month of 1710, when he performed as a tachiyaku in Kyôto at Ebisuya Shôdayû's theater in the kaomise drama "Inari Chôja Yotsugimaru", which was produced by Yamashita Karumo; his stage partners were Yamashita Kyôemon I, Yoshizawa Ayame I, Fujikawa Buzaemon I, Sawamura Chôjûrô I and Yamada Jinpachi. Either tachiyaku or katakiyaku, he switched to jitsuaku when he performed in the 1st lunar month of 1719 in the new year ni-no-kawari drama "Keisei Ne Monogatari", which was produced in Kyôto by Sakakiyama Shirotarô I at Hayagumo Chôdayû's theater. He switched back to katakiyaku in the 11th lunar month of 1719, when he played at Hayagumo Chôdayû's theater the role of Yahase Namiemon [1] in the kaomise drama "Chiyo no Ume Naniwa Kagami", which was produced by Sakakiyama Shirojûrô. He appeared on stage for the last time in the 1st lunar month of 1723, in Kyôto at Miyako Mandayû's theater, where he performed in the new year ni-no-kawari drama "Keisei Oshioyama" which was produced by Segawa Kikunojô I. His rank in the 1723 Kyôto hyôbanki [2], katakiyaku section, was jô (superior) [visual]. No record afterwards. He was the master of Nakagawa Shôgorô and Nakagawa Shirôemon. |

Dates of birth and death unknown. He was recorded for the firs time in the 11th lunar month of 1695, when he performed as a wakaonnagata in Edo at the Nakamuraza. He switched to wakashugata in the 11th lunar month of 1699, when he performed at the Nakamuraza in the kaomise drama "Taira no Kiyomori Bijin Zoroi". He played in the 3rd lunar month of 1705 in Edo at the Nakamuraza the role of Karahashi Saijô in the drama "Chûjô-hime Mitsu no Kuruma". He left Edo for almost 10 years to perform in tabi shibai. He was back in Edo in Fall 1714. He took the name of Nakagawa Takegorô and he performed as a tachiyaku in the 11th lunar month of 1714 at the Ichimuraza in the kaomise drama "Enman Taiheiki", which welcomed in Edo the actor Wakabayashi Shirogorô. His rank in the Edo hyôbanki, tachiyaku section, was naka-no-jô (superior in the middle class) in one hyôbanki [3] and naka-no-jô-jô (superior - superior in the middle class) in another hyôbanki [4].
