Notes

[1] In Nojima Jusaburô's book "Kabuki Jinmei Jiten", he never took the name of Arashi Sanjûrô V. Arashi Sanjûrô V was in fact not recorded in this book. We decided to stay in sync with the latest edition (2012) of "Kabuki Haiyû Meiseki Benran".

[2] In Nojima Jusaburô's book "Kabuki Jinmei Jiten", two different actors were recorded:

  • Arashi Sankatsu I, who was active from 1746 to 1767 and who held the names of Fujioka Kokichi, Nakamura Koisa and Arashi Koisa.
  • Arashi Shinpei II, who was active from the second half of the 1790s to 1817 and who held the name of Arashi Shichisaburô II.

[3] Arashi Koisa or Arashi Koizô. Not recorded as a nidaime in both Nojima Jusaburô's book "Kabuki Jinmei Jiten" and the latest edition (2012) of "Kabuki Haiyû Meiseki Benran".
