Date of birth unknown. Disciple of Chikamatsu Monzaemon, he quickly switched to acting instead of playwriting. He was recorded for the first time in 1691. He performed in Kyôto as a wakashugata in 1692. He performed in Ôsaka in the 1st lunar month of 1700 as a wakaonnagata, playing the role of Okatsu in Ki-no-Kaion's new year drama "Keisei Mugen no Kane" which was produced by Otowa Jirosaburô I and starred Kataoka Nizaemon I. He performed in Ôsaka in the 1st lunar month of 1701 as a wakashugata, playing the role of Danzaburô in the new year drama "Hyakunichi Soga" which was produced by Kataoka Nizaemon I. He became tachiyaku in Ôsaka in the 11th lunar month of 1702. No record afterwards.
