14th edition of Nakamura Kankurô's summer program at the Kabukiza, the famous Hachigatsu Nôryô Kabuki (literally "the August cool-breeze Kabuki"). A very good selection of plays and dances, including the spectacular "Yoshikata Saigo" (with Nakamura Hashinosuke in the leading role), the ghost play "Botan Dôrô" and a new stage collaboration between Nakamura Kankurô and the popular playwright/producer Noda Hideki ("Nezumi Kozô"). |

Original outdoors Kabuki performance, in the precincts of the famous Enryakuji temple which is located on mount Hiei. This performance commemorates the 1200th anniversary of the foundation of the Tendai sect. The first item in the program is the classic dance "Hashi Benkei". The 2 others are new creations related to the temple history. |

Second edition of an original program called "Heisei Wakashû Kabuki" (the young men's Kabuki of the Heisei imperial era). The program consists of a new version of Chikamatsu Monzaemon's classic "Onna Goroshi Abura no Jigoku", which will remind you of "West Side Story" (according to the producers of this show). |
