Dates of birth and death unknown. An actor Kamigata holding the name of Fujikawa Hachizô performed in Edo at the end of the 1820s. He played the roles of Konishi Danjô Sukeemon and Taira no Motomori in the drama "Mitsugi no Yuki Genji Hiiki", which was staged in the 11th lunar month of 1828 at the Ichimuraza. His yearly salary for this new season in Edo was 200 ryô. No records of stage performances after 1829. He was never acknowledged as an official member of the line. |

Dates of birth and death unknown. He started his career as a disciple of Fujikawa Tomokichi II, who gave him the name of Fujikawa Hachitarô III. He took the name of Fujikawa Happo VI in the 11th lunar month of 1839 in Kyôto at the Kitagawa no Shibai. Happo was the haimyô of Fujikawa Hachizô I, Fujikawa Hachizô II and Fujikawa Hachizô III. He was finally allowed to take the name of Fujikawa Hachizô IV [1] in Ôsaka in 1842 and held it up to the end of the 1860s. He did not achieve any fame for himself in ôshibai.

[1] It is worthy to note that he was considered on some documents as the sixth Fujikawa Hachizô. However, he is referenced as the fourth Fujikawa Hachizô in Nojima Jusaburô's book "Kabuki Jinmei Jiten" and in "Kabuki Haiyû Meiseki Benran", the two major works referencing the actors lines. [2] This actor considered himself as being the 7th Fujikawa Hachizô, not the 5th. |
