Uemura Kichiya IV was active in Nagoya in 1732 and 1733. He performed there as an onnagata actor and worked as a zamoto. We don't know whether or not he was a disciple of Uemura Kichiya III. |

Born in the Prefecture of Ôita in the city of Kitsuki the 13th of December 1909. He started his career as a disciple of Nakamura Keisha, a ji shibai actor, who gave him the name of Nakamura Keinosuke and trained him. He made his first stage appearance in January 1915 in Hakata, performing as an onnagata actor in the drama "Kagamiyama". He toured and traveled a lot in Kyûshû and in Kansai, where he became a disciple of Ichikawa Udanji II, who gave him the name of Ichikawa Ushô II in January 1933. He was finally allowed to take the long disused name of Kamimura Kichiya V in January 1947 at the Ôsaka Kabukiza, where he performed in "Nakamura Ganjirô", "Renjishi", "Meguru Idoshi Kaeru Karigane" and "Kioi Jishi". These dramas were part of a special program, which celebrated the shûmei of Nakamura Ganjirô II and commemorated the 12th anniversary (13th memorial service) of the passing away of Nakamura Ganjirô I. He received in 1989 the Order of the Rising Sun, gilt and silver (5th Class). He appeared on stage for the last time in July 1991 on tour in the western and eastern provinces, taking part in the kôjô which celebrated the shûmei of Nakamura Ganjirô III. He died the 1st of January 1992. He was a talented Kamigata supporting onnagata actor, who started in ji shibai/tabi shibai and ended his career in ôshibai, being one of the best fukeoyama. His most famous roles were Osawa in "Abura no Jigoku", Otoku in "Gappô", Okaya in "Kanpei Harakiri" and Okô in "Hikimado".
