He started his career in Ôsaka in 1713. He performed as a katakiyaku in the 1st lunar month of 1713 in Ôsaka in the drama "Kamakura Gosho no Matsu".
He played in the same theater in the 11th lunar month of 1713 the role of Kobata Hyôemon
in the kaomise drama "Yoyo Meoto Tsuru no Mago".
He performed for 10 seasons in Ôsaka before moving to Kyôto in Fall 1723. He took the name of Matsukawa Tsuneemon and played in the 11th lunar month of 1723 the role of
the karô Gekizaemon in Fukuoka Yagoshirô's kaomise drama "Teono Hajime Kogane no Ishizue",
which was produced by Segawa Kikunojô I. Tsuneemon played in the same theater the role of Akaboshi Satoemon
in the new year drama "Keisei Futakamiyama".
Tsuneemon's rank in the Kyôto hyôbanki,
katakiyaku section, was jô-jô (superior - superior) [visual].
