1835 : born in Ky˘to. He was named Kinsabur˘ when he was a child.
1868: he became a disciple of Ichikawa Ichijűr˘ II and received the name of Ichikawa Fukutar˘ II.
1870s: he received the patronage of Onoe Tamiz˘ II in Kamigata and of Kawarasaki Sansh˘ in T˘ky˘, where he stayed in 1873/1874.
October 1874: Ichikawa Fukutar˘ II took the name of Ichikawa Ichijűr˘ III at the Chikugo no Shibai, where he played the role of Hikiroku in the drama "Ataridoshi Satomi no Hanj˘".
Fall 1879: Ichijűr˘ went to T˘ky˘.
Fall 1880: Ichijűr˘ went back to ďsaka to play at the Naka no Shibai the roles of Igami no Gonta and Yokawa no Kakuhan in the classic "Yoshitsune Senbon Zakura".
May 1888: Ichijűr˘ went to T˘ky˘ with his son Ichikawa Ichitar˘ to perform at the Harukiza.
February 1889: Ichijűr˘ went back in ďsaka to play at the Asahiza the role of Mitsuhide in the drama "Tamamo-no-Mae Asahi no Tamoto".
May 1910: Ichikawa Ichijűr˘ III and his son Ichikawa Dankichi II took the respectives names of Ichikawa Gangyoku II and Ichikawa Ichijűr˘ IV.
April 1919: Gangyoku appeared on stage for the last time in ďsaka at the Nakaza, where he played the role of Ishikawa Goemon in the drama "Sanmon"; the role of Mashiba Hisayoshi was played by Jitsukawa Enjaku II.
22 February 1920: Gangyoku died.
Ichikawa Gangyoku II was an important and popular Kamigata actor and his best role was Ishikawa Goemon.
