Born in 1843. He started his career as a disciple of Nakamura Jakuemon I and his first stage name was Nakamura Shibasaburô. He took the name of Nakamura Shibazô II in the 11th lunar month of 1862 in Ôsaka. He finally took the name of Bandô Jutarô III in the 1st lunar month of 1872 at the Minamigawa no Shibai, playing the roles of Koshino Kanzaemon and the rônin Yôsuke in the drama "Keisei Yamato Zôshi". He also successfully played the role of Yojirô in the drama "Sarumawashi Kadode no Hitofushi". He unfortunately did for hold the name for a long time as he appeared on stage for the last time in August 1873, in Ôsaka at the Chikugo no Shibai, where he played the roles of Yashichi and Kyűshichi in the drama "Tengajaya". He died the 31st of August 1873. This promising and talented actor was said to look, physically and artistically like Bandô Jutarô I. He had a great kôseki, he was equally at home in jidaimono or sewamono dramas and he was able to play a wide range of roles, as a tachiyaku, a wakaonnagata or a jitsuaku. He was nicknamed Toyodaya no Oyagata (literally the Toyodaya Boss). He was the elder brother of Bandô Jusaburô II
