Comments:

Matsushima Kiyosaki was an Ôsaka onnagata actor, who was active from the end of the 1720s to the first half of the 1750s. He was said to have the acting skills of Sodeshima Genji and the talent and ability of Ogino Yaegiri I on stage. He was also said to be the onnagata equivalent of the tachiyaku actor Tamiya Shirogorô.

[1] This is just an assumption as Matsushima Moheiji was the leading actor of the Matsushima clan when Matsushima Chiyosaki made his debut on stage. In the 2nd lunar month of 1729, Matsushima Moheiji was in Kyôto, not in Ôsaka.

[2] He shared the same rank with Yoshida Manshirô and Anegawa Daikichi I.

Yamamoto Iwanojô, Matsushima Moheiji and Matsushima Kiyosaki playing the roles of the miko Otatsu, Awashima Wakasanosuke and Gengo's nyôbô Kazusa in the kaomise drama "Kyô Miyage Matsuri Zoroe", which was staged in the 11th lunar month of 1752 at the Ônishi no Shibai
