Ichikawa Masusaburô I

Dates of birth and death unknown. Disciple of Ichikawa Danjûrô VII, he received the name of Ichikawa Masusaburô I in the 11th lunar month 1812 and started his career in Edo in kodomo shibai. He took the name of Ichikawa Masuzô in the 11th lunar month of 1828 at the Kawarasakiza. He took the name of Ichikawa Masuju in the 11th lunar month of 1835. He took the name of Ichikawa Fukunojô in the 11th lunar month of 1838 at the Ichimuraza. He was active in Edo up to 1863. No record afterwards.

Ichikawa Masusaburô II

Date of birth unknown. Disciple of the travelling actor Ichikawa Shinnosuke, he started his career at the end of the 1870s (around 1878?) and performed under the name of Ichikawa Masusaburô II. Later, he took the name of Ichikawa Yoshijirô. He joined the Soganoya Shinkigeki troupe, performing under the name of Soganoya Tokijirô. He took the name of Soganoya Kametsuru [1] in February 1915. He was active in Shinkigeki up to 1937. He died the 9th of August 1937. His real name was Takeuchi Umekichi.

Ichikawa Masusaburô III
 

The actor Ichikawa Dannosuke VI held the name of Ichikawa Masusaburô III from November 1897 to October 1915.

Ichikawa Masusaburô IV

Born the 5th of June 1981 in the city of Sakai. He started his career in February 1998 as a disciple of Ichikawa Danjûrô XII, who gave him the name of Ichikawa Shôichi. He made his debut on stage (hatsubutai) in May 1998 at the Kabukiza, where he played the roles of a kumosuke, a townsman and a festival spectator in the dramas "Suzu-ga-Mori", "Nozarashi Gosuke" and "Omatsuri Sashichi". He became nadai and celebrated it in May 2018 at the Kabukiza, where he played the role of Katsura Bunnojô in the drama "Narukami Fudô Kitayama Zakura". He is a promising tachiyaku supporting actor of the Naritaya guild and he had the opportunity to perform some important roles in summer study groups like Igami no Gonta in "Sushiya", Yosaburô in "Kirare Yosa" or Soga Jûrô Sukenari in "Soga no Taimen".
