Onoe Einosuke I

The actor Onoe Baikô VI held the name of Onoe Einosuke I from January 1885 to April 1891.

Born the 23rd of March 1950. Son of Onoe Baikô VII and younger brother of Onoe Kikugorô VII, he made his debut on stage in May 1955 in Tôkyô at the Kabukiza, where he played the role of Kotarô^[1] in the drama "Terakoya". He appeared on stage for the last time in February 1979, in Tôkyô at the Kabukiza, where he played the role of the Iseya wakadanna Rokusaburô in the drama "Jirokichi Zange"^[2]. He stopped acting and worked as an urakata for the Onoe Kikugorô Gekidan.

[1] The roles of Matsuômaru, Takebe Genzô, Chiyo, Tonami and Kan Shûsai were played by Ichikawa Ebizô IX, Ichikawa Sadanji III, Onoe Baikô VII, Nakamura Fukusuke VII and Ichikawa Natsuo. It is worth noting that Einosuke's father Onoe Baikô VII played the role of Kotarô's mother in this drama, which was staged in a program commemorating the 6th anniversary (7th memorial service) and the 16th anniversary (17th memorial service) of the passing away of Onoe Kikugorô VI and Bandô Hikosaburô VI.

[2] It was staged within a program celebrating the shûmei of Ichikawa Sadanji IV and Ichikawa Sashô III.
