Career:

January 1896: he appeared on stage for the first time, receiving the name of Onoe Eizô and performing at the Meijiza in the classic "Yoshitsune Senbon Zakura".

January 1900: premiere at the Kabukiza of Kawatake Shinshichi III's dance-drama "Yami no Ume Hyaku Monogatari"; Eizô played the role of a kappa [more details].

18 February 1903: his father Onoe Kikugorô V died.

March 1903: great shûmei at the Kabukiza for the Otowaya guild; the actors Onoe Ushinosuke II, Onoe Eizaburô V and Onoe Eizô respectively took the names of Onoe Kikugorô VI, Onoe Baikô VI and Onoe Eizaburô VI [more details]

November 1915: Hikosaburô played at the Yokohamaza (Yokohama) the role of Tôma Saburôemon in the drama "Tengajaya-mura"; his stage partners were Onoe Kikugorô VI (Motoemon), Bandô Mitsugorô VII (Hayase Iori) and Ichikawa Shinnosuke V (Hayase Genjirô).

May 1916: a stone commemorating the memory of Onoe Kikugorô V was erected in the precincts of the Fudôson Temple in the district of Fukagawa in Tôkyô.

May ~ June 1916: tour in the Southern and Western provinces of Japan with the actors Onoe Kikugorô VI, Bandô Mitsugorô VII and Onoe Kikujirô III.

July 1917: premiere at the Ichimuraza of the kyôgen "Tachi Nusubito", which was adapted to kabuki by Okamura Shikô and performed by Onoe Kikugorô VI, Bandô Mitsugorô VII and Hikosaburô.

September 1918: premiere at the Ichimuraza of Okamura Shikô's dance-drama "Imohori Chôja"; Hikosaburô played the role of Ubara Sanai [casting].

December 1918: Hikosaburô played at the Ichimuraza the prestigious role of the king of thieves Ishikawa Goemon in the drama "Sanmon Gosan no Kiri"; the role of Mashiba Hisayoshi was played by Morita Kan'ya XIII.

April 1926: Hikosaburô played at the Hongôza the role of Fuwa Kazuemon in the classic "Kanadehon Chûshingura".

February 1928: Hikosaburô played the role of Hayami no Tôta in the michiyuki "Yoshinoyama", which was performed at the Shinbashi Enbujô; his stage partners were Ichikawa Omezô IV (Shizuka Gozen) and Onoe Kikugorô VI (Satô Tadanobu).

January 1930: Hikosaburô played at the Meijiza the role of Arajishi Otokonosuke in the classic "Meiboku Sendai Hagi"; the role of Nikki Danjô was played by Onoe Kikugorô VI.

March 1931: Hikosaburô played at the Tôkyô Gekijô the role of Arajishi Otokonosuke in the classic "Meiboku Sendai Hagi"; the role of Nikki Danjô was played by Onoe Kikugorô VI.
