History

1895: building of the Misonoza.

May 1897: kokera otoshi at the newly-opened Misonoza, with a troupe led by Ichikawa Sadanji I; his two main stage partners were Ichikawa Gonjűr˘ and Band˘ Yasosuke II.

June 1949: Ichikawa Jukai III and Ichikawa Sumiz˘ VII celebrated their shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza.

October 1949: Matsumoto K˘shir˘ VIII celebrated his shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza.

May 1950: Nakamura Kanzabur˘ XVII celebrated his shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza.

October 1991: Nakamura Ganjir˘ III celebrated his shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza, playing the role of a little girl, Jűbŕ and the spirit of the Lion in the dance "Tenaraiko", the "Numazu" scene of the drama "Igagoe D˘chű Sugoroku" and the dance "Kagami Jishi".

October 1998: Kataoka Nizaemon XV celebrated his shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza, playing the roles of Fujiya Izaemon and Sukeroku in the dramas "Kuruwa Bunsh˘" and "Sukeroku Kuruwa no Hatsuzakura".

October 2001: Band˘ Mitsugor˘ X celebrated his shűmei at the Misonoza in Nagoya by playing the roles of Kumagai Naozane and Tadanobu in the play "Ichi-no-Tani Futaba Gunki" ("Kumagai Jin'ya") and the dance "Yoshinoyama".

October 2002: Onoe Sh˘roku IV celebrated his shűmei at the Misonoza in Nagoya, playing the roles of Soga Gor˘ in "Kotobuki Soga no Taimen" and the spirit of the spider in the dance "Tsuchi Gumo".

October 2003: Nakamura Kaishun II celebrated his shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza, playing the leading female roles of the 2 beautiful dance-dramas "Tsumoru Koi Yuki no Seki no To" and "Iro Moy˘ Chotto Karimame".

September 2004: Ichikawa Ebiz˘ XI celebrated his shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza, playing the roles of Hikaru-no-Kimi and Sukeroku in the dramas "Genji Monogatari" and "Sukeroku Yukari no Edo Zakura".

October 2006: Sakata T˘jűr˘ IV celebrated his shűmei at the Misonoza in Nagoya, playing the roles of Sasaki Moritsuna and the keisei Yayoi (in reality the spirit of a shishi) in the drama "ďmi Genji Senjin Yakata" and the dance "Makura Jishi".

October 2008: Nakamura Kinnosuke II celebrated his shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza, playing the roles of Konoshita T˘kichi, Minamoto no Yoriie and Lord Matsue in "Kinkakuji", "Shuzenji Monogatari" and "K˘chiyama".

October 2011: Nakamura Matagor˘ III and his son Nakamura Kash˘ IV celebrated their shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza [more details].

October 2012: Nakamura Kankur˘ VI celebrated his shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza, playing the roles of Fukuoka Mitsugi and Tadanobu in "Ise Ondo Koi no Netaba" and "Yoshitsune Senbon Zakura" [more details].

March 2013: Ichikawa En'˘ II, Ichikawa Ennosuke IV and Ichikawa Chűsha IX celebrated their shűmei in Nagoya at the Misonoza [more details]. These were the final theater performances at the Misonoza as the most famous theater in Nagoya definitively closed afterwards in order to be rebuilt.

April 2018: Opening (kokera otoshi) of the new Misonoza! Matsumoto Haku˘ II and Matsumoto K˘shir˘ X celebrated their shűmei in Nagoya [more details].
