Dates of birth and death unknown. Disciple of Sanogawa Mangiku, he received the name of Sanogawa Hatsugiku and was recorded for the first time in the 12th lunar month of 1716, when he performed as a wakaonnagata iroko in the kaomise drama "Chô Hanagata Sangoku no Mukoiri", which was procuded at the Naka no Shibai by Ogino Yaegiri I and Arashi Daizaburô I. He became wakashugata in the 1st lunar month of 1723 and played at the Ônishi no Shibai the role of Sanada Kotarô in the new year drama "Daibutsu Kuyô Ryakuengi". He played in the 11th lunar month of 1723 at the Kado no Shibai the role of Hannosuke in the kaomise "Kogane no Hanagata", which was produced by the zamoto Arashi San'emon III and celebrated the arrival in Ôsaka of the Edo star Ôtani Hiroji I. He performed in the 1st lunar month of 1724 in the Edo-flavored new year drama "Edoe Ukiyo Soga" [casting]. His rank in the Ôsaka 1724 hyôbanki [1], wakashugata section, was jô-(shiro)jô (superior - (white) superior) [visual]. No record afterwards.
