Comments:

Ichimura Tamagashiwa I was a talented and popular onnagata actor, who achieved fame for himself in Kyôto, Ôsaka and Edo from the beginning of the 1700s to the end of the 1720s. He was jô-jô-kichi from 1716 to 1729. He was outstanding in onna budô and nuregoto, especially in jidaimono dramas.

[1] Assumption found in Nojima Jusaburô's book "Kabuki Jinmei Jiten". It goes without saying that Ichimura Tamagashiwa I met Ichimura Takenojô I during his stay in Edo from Fall 1715 to Fall 1718 but it was many years after the beginning of his career in Kamigata, where Ichimura Takenojô I has never travelled. As he used the official mon of the Ichimura clan, he had a relationship with Ichimura Takenojô I but it is difficult to report that he was his master.

[2] This is our assumption. These two actors were recorded as performing together. For example in the 11th lunar month of 1722 in Kyôto at Miyako Mandayû's theater. Moreover, both actors used the same mon (tachibana).
