2nd lunar month of 1705: Kohyôe was recorded for the first time, when he performed as a kashagata in Ôsaka at Matsumoto Nazaemon III's theater in the ni-no-kawari drama "Tosa no Kuni Godaisan Kaichô", which was produced by Arashi San'emon III.

Fall 1710: Kohyôe went to Kyôto.

11th lunar month of 1710: Kohyôe performed in Kyôto at Kameya Kumenojô's theater in the kaomise drama "Kenkon Daikoku Bashira", which was produced by Kataoka Sanpei.

3rd lunar month of 1711: Kohyôe's rank in the Ôsaka hyôbanki, kashagata section, was jô-jô-(shiro)kichi (superior - superior - (white) excellent) [visual].

1st lunar month of 1712: Kohyôe performed in Kyôto at Ebisuya Kichirôbê's theater in the drama "Onna Wankyû" [1], which was produced by Yoshizawa Ayame I.

1st lunar month of 1713: Kohyôe performed at Kameya Kumenojô's theater in the kaomise drama "Fukubiki Miuma no Ôkamado", which was produced by Hanai Kosanza. He also played in the same theater the role of Jibunoshin's nyôbô in the new year ni-no-kawari drama "Keisei Yaeguruma"; the role of Ôkura Jibunoshin was played by Yamashita Kyôemon I.

4th lunar month of 1713: Kohyôe's rank in the Ôsaka hyôbanki, kashagata section, was jô-jô-(shiro)kichi (superior - superior - (white) excellent) [visual]. He shared the same rank with Tamagawa Sennojô IV and Ichikawa Toyama III.

2nd lunar month of 1714: Kohyôe performed in Kyôto at Hoteiya Umenojô's theater in the kaomise drama "Tarôzuki Wakô no Ônuki", which was produced by Nakamura Shingorô I.

11th lunar month of 1715: Kohyôe performed in Kyôto in the kaomise drama "Chiyogasane Kiku no Shinpai", which was produced by Yamatoyama Jinzaemon I for the nadai Hayagumo Chôdayû.

1st lunar month of 1716: Kohyôe's rank in the Kyôto hyôbanki, kashagata section, was one black stroke below jô-jô (superior - superior) [visual] in one hyôbanki and jô-jô-(shiro)kichi (superior - superior - (white) excellent) [visual] in another hyôbanki. He also performed in the same theater in the ni-no-kawari drama "Keisei Nishiki no Ubugi".

4th lunar month of 1716: Kohyôe's rank in the Kyôto hyôbanki, kashagata section, fell to one black stroke below jô-jô (superior - superior) [visual].

11th lunar month of 1716: Kohyôe performed in Kyôto at Hoteiya Umenojô's theater in the kaomise drama "Daikoku Tenjin Fukuju Musume", which is produced by Yamatoya Jinbê III.

1th lunar month of 1717: Kohyôe's rank in the Kyôto hyôbanki, kashagata section, was jô-jô (superior - superior) [visual].

11th lunar month of 1717: Kohyôe played in Kyôto at Miyako Mandayû's theater the role of Taminojô's mother in Sadoshima Saburôzaemon's kaomise drama "Iwao no Matsu Manbai no Midori"; the role of Kamadoyama Taminojô was played by Otowa Jirosaburô I.

11th lunar month of 1718: Kohyôe played in Kyôto at Miyako Mandayû's theater the role of Kunitama's okugata in Sadoshima Saburôzaemon's kaomise drama "Meoto Matsu Jufuku no Kodane".

1st lunar month of 1719: Kohyôe played in the same theater the role of Tsunaemon's mother Myôkan in the new year ni-no-kawari drama "Keisei Chihaya no Toko"; the role of Wada Tsunaemon was played by Otowa Jirosaburô I.

11th lunar month of 1719: Kohyôe played in Kyôto at Miyako Mandayû's theater the role of Sôemon's mother in Sadoshima Saburôzaemon's kaomise drama "Shôjô Zakaya Mannen-gura".

1st lunar month of 1720: Kohyôe's rank in the Kyôto hyôbanki, kashagata section, was jô-jô-(shiro)kichi (superior - superior - (white) excellent) [visual] in another hyôbanki in one hyôbanki and jô-jô-(shiro)hankichi (superior - superior - (white) half excellent) [visual]. He also played in the same theater the role of a midaidokoro in the ni-no-kawari drama "Keisei Hachimannichi".

11th lunar month of 1720: Kohyôe performed in Kyôto at Miyako Mandayû's theater in the kaomise drama "Gosha no Yonegura Fukki no Aimuko" and in the kiri kyôgen "Hamadaya Shirozuki no Yone", which were produced by Sawamura Chôjûrô I.

1st lunar month of 1721: Kohyôe played in the same theater the role of Tatamiya Oichi [2] in the new year ni-no-kawari drama "Keisei Tôyama Matsu".

11th lunar month of 1721: Kohyôe performed in Kyôto at Miyako Mandayû's theater in the kaomise drama "Inari Fuku In'yô no Kanegura", which was produced by Sawamura Chôjûrô I.

11th lunar month of 1722: Kohyôe played in Kyôto at Hoteiya Umenojô's theater the role of the Hanazono kôshitsu in Yoshida Rôfu's kaomise drama "Aioi Ôshimadai", which was produced by Ogino Yaegiri I and welcomed in Kyôto the actor Kirinoya Gonjûrô I.

2nd lunar month of 1723: Kohyôe performed in the same theater in the new year ni-no-kawari drama "Gunpô Tekuda Keisei".

Fall 1723: Kohyôe went to Ôsaka.

11th lunar month of 1723: Kohyôe performed at the Ônishi no Shibai in the kaomise drama "Fukujukai Kogane no Minato", which was produced by Sakakiyama Shirotarô I.

1st lunar month of 1724: Kohyôe's rank in the Ôsaka hyôbanki, kashagata section, was jô-jô-(shiro)kichi (superior - superior - (white) excellent) [visual].

11th lunar month of 1725: Kohyôe performed at the Naka no Shibai in the kaomise drama "Hôraisan Imose no Matsu", which celebrated the shûmei of Nakamura Shirogorô II and Yamashita Kamenojô II.

11th lunar month of 1730: href performed at the Naka no Shibai in the kaomise drama "Meotogura Wagô no Nakatomi", which was produced by Iwai Hanshirô III; his stage partners were Nakayama Shinkurô I, Anegawa Shinshirô I, Arashi Sanjûrô II, Kirinoya Gonjûrô I, Sakurayama Shirosaburô I, Yamashita Kinsaku I, Izumikawa Sennosuke, Sanogawa Hanazuma I and Hanagiri Toyomatsu I.

11th lunar month of 1731: Kohyôe played at the Naka no Shibai the role of Oyone in the kaomise drama "Ôyamato Wagô no Tsuchi", which was produced by Iwai Hanshirô III.

11th lunar month of 1732: Kohyôe played at the Naka no Shibai the role of the tsubone Naruse in the kaomise drama "Shikishima Wakô no Tsuzumi", which was produced by Iwai Hanshirô III.

1st lunar month of 1733: Kohyôe's rank in the Ôsaka hyôbanki, kashagata section, was back to jô-jô-(shiro)kichi (superior - superior - (white) excellent) [visual].

11th lunar month of 1733: Kohyôe played at the Naka no Shibai the role of the gejo Oyone in the kaomise drama "Genji Rokujûjô", which celebrated the arrival in the new line-up of Sawamura Otoemon I.

11th lunar month of 1734: Kohyôe played at the Naka no Shibai the role of the head of jochû Otane in the kaomise drama "Honchô Bugaku no Hajimari", which was produced by Iwai Hanshirô III.

11th lunar month of 1735: Kohyôe performed at the Naka no Shibai in the kaomise drama "Toyo no Asahi Eitaigura", which was produced by the zamoto Iwai Hanshirô III and celebrated the shûmei of Arashi Kiyosaburô III.

11th lunar month of 1736: Kohyôe appeared on an ôshibai stage for the last time, in Ôsaka at the Kado no Shibai, where he played the role of Abe Manzô's kôshitsu in the kaomise drama "Yamato Fumi Mannen no Ayatsuri", which was produced by Iwai Hanshirô III .

1st lunar month of 1737: Kohyôe's rank in the Ôsaka hyôbanki, kashagata section, was jô-jô-(shiro)kichi (superior - superior - (white) excellent) [visual]. No record afterwards.

Comments:

Tamekawa Kohyôe was a Kamigata kashagata actor, who was active in Kyôto and Ôsaka from the middle of the 1700s to the second half of the 1730s. He played for 32 years roles of midaidokoro, okugata, nyôbô or kôshitsu. Due to his fleshy body, he had a big and powerful voice. His ranking was quite chaotic but he was ranked jô-jô-(shiro)kichi for many seasons during his career.

[1] The roles of Wan'ya Kyûbê and the courtesan Ôgiya Matsuyama in this wankyûmono drama were played by Yamashita Kyôemon I and Uemura Kichiya III.
