History |
1934: opening of the Tôkyû Department Store (commonly called Tôkyû Tôyoko Store) in Shibuya (Tôkyô). 1954: opening of the West Building of the Tôyoko Department Store; the 9th and 10th floors were used as a theater, which was named Tôyoko Hall (later it was renamed Tôyoko Gekijô, the Tôyoko Theater). December 1954: first Kabuki performances at the Tôyoko Hall to celebrate the opening of the West Building with the young actors of the Onoe Kikugorô Gekidan and Ichikawa Ennosuke Gekidan troupes:
June 1958: revival at the Tôyoko Hall of the drama "Kishi no Himematsu Kutsuwa Kagami", which was staged with the following casting:
June 1967: finale Kabuki performances at the Tôyoko Hall; from the 13th of June, the matinée and the evening were switched:
1985: closing of the Tôyoko Theater. |
