Dates of birth and death unknown. Disciple of Ichikawa Danjûrô V, his first stage name was Ichikawa Tatsuzô. He became a disciple of Matsumoto Kôshirô IV in 1777 and received the name of Matsumoto Shichizô at the Nakamuraza in the 11th lunar month of 1777. This minor wakaonnagata actor, who was active in Edo up to 1789, as never acknowledged as a legitimate holder of this name.
