Career:

11th lunar month of 1702: first record, in Edo at the Ichimuraza, where he performed as a tachiyaku in the drama "Yorimasa Hôraizan". His first stage name was Miyakawa Katsuheiji.

11th lunar month of 1707: he became katakiyaku, took the name of Miyakawa Hachirôzaemon [1] and performed at the Ichimuraza in the kaomise drama "Hachinoki Ôkagami", which celebrated the arrival in Edo of the Kamigata actor Otowa Jirosaburô I.

11th lunar month of 1717: Hachirôzaemon played at the Nakamuraza the role of Wakasa no Zenji in the kaomise drama "Hachinoki Hônen Mitsugimono".

11th lunar month of 1718: Hachirôzaemon played at the Moritaza the role of Taira no Ujimasa in the kaomise drama "Zenkunen Yoroi Kurabe", which celebrated the shûmei of both Ichikawa Kuzô and Kamakura Chôkurô.

11th lunar month of 1719: Hachirôzaemon played at the Moritaza the role of Ômori Hikoshichi in the kaomise drama "Banmin Taiheiki".

11th lunar month of 1721: Hachirôzaemon performed at the Ichimuraza in the kaomise drama "Kichirei Imagawajô".

11th lunar month of 1723: Hachirôzaemon played at the Nakamuraza the role of Nikaidô Nyûdô in the kaomise drama "Sono Enpô Onna Migyôsho", which celebrated the arrival at the Nakamuraza of the Kamigata actors Yamashita Kinsaku I and Sanogawa Senzô.

11th lunar month of 1724: Hachirôzaemon played at the Nakamuraza the role of Yamana Akuemon in the kaomise drama "Taiheiki Okuni Kabuki".

First half of the 1730s: Hachirôzaemon performed in tabi shibai for a few years.

11th lunar month of 1735: Hachirôzaemon played at the Nakamuraza the role of Taira no Tadatsune in the kaomise drama "Tono Zukuri Shinoda-zuma".

1st lunar month of 1736: Hachirôzaemon's rank in the Edo hyôbanki, katakiyaku section, was jô-jô-jû (superior - superior - "ten") [visual]. He also performed in the same theater in the new year sogamono drama "Yûkun Yoroi Soga". No record afterwards.

Comments:

Miyakawa Hachirôzaemon was an Edo katakiyaku actor, who was active from the first half of the 1700s to the middle of the 1730s. Another minor katakiyaku actor held the name of Miyakawa Hachirôzaemon between 1758 and 1760.
