Career:

1st lunar month of 1701: disciple of Kanazawa Goheiji I, he received the name of Kanazawa Heiroku and was recorded for the first time, when he performed as a dôkegata at the Nakamuraza in the new year drama "Keisei Ôshôkun".

1710: he performed for a few months under the name of Nanboku Heiroku.

11th lunar month of 1710: he took back the name of Kanazawa Heiroku at the Yamamuraza, where he performed in the kaomise drama "Jinriki Teika Azuma Asobi", which celebrated the arrival in Edo of the Kamigata actor Arashi Kiyosaburô I.

11th lunar month of 1711: Heiroku performed at the Yamamuraza in the kaomise drama "Shida Konjiki no Uroko".

1st lunar month of 1713: Heiroku performed at the Yamamuraza in the kaomise drama "Ishiyama Genta Kimon Yaburi" [3].

11th lunar month of 1713: Heiroku performed at the Yamamuraza in the kaomise drama "Sazare Ishi Nasu no Futahashira".

2nd lunar month of 1714: Ejima, a court lady who served the Shôgun, was in love with the star Ikushima Shingorô. Their affair was discovered in the backstage of the Yamamuraza. This incident, which broke the boundaries between samurai and commoner, was a serious crime for the shogunal authorities which decided to deal ruthlessly with the culprits: Ejima and Ikushima Shingorô were exiled to different places, those in the Shôgun's household who were held responsible were executed, the Yamamuraza was definitively closed and its management was heavily fined [more details].

11th lunar month of 1714: Heiroku played at the Ichimuraza the role of Murakami Hikoshirô in the kaomise drama "Enman Taiheiki", which welcomed in Edo the actor Wakabayashi Shirogorô; his main stage partners were Ichikawa Danzô I, Ichimura Takenojô IV, Asao Jûjirô I, Mimasuya Sukejûrô I, Matsumoto Koshirô, Hayakawa Dengorô and Yamashita Karumo.

1st lunar month of 1715: Heiroku's rank in the Edo hyôbanki, dôkegata section, was jô-jô [4] (superior - superior) [visual].

11th lunar month of 1715: Heiroku played at the Ichimuraza the role of the farmer Shôsaku in the kaomise drama "Banzei Onna Hachinoki"; his stage partners were Murayama Heiemon III, Matsumoto Koshirô, Ichimura Tamagashiwa (who arrived from Ôsaka), Azuma Tôzô I, Miyazaki Kodenji, Iwai Sagenta I and Nakajima Mihoemon I.

1st lunar month of 1716: Heiroku's rank in the Edo hyôbanki, dôkegata section, was jô-jô-(shiro)hankichi (superior - superior - (white) half excellent) [visual] in one hyôbanki and jô-jô [4] (superior - superior) [visual] in a second hyôbanki.

11th lunar month of 1717: Heiroku performed at the Moritaza in the kaomise drama "Hônô Taiheiki", which starred Ichikawa Danjûrô II, Hayakawa Dengorô, Ôtani Hiroemon I, Ogawa Zengorô I, Asao Jûjirô I, Imamura Motojûrô, Ichikawa Monnosuke I and Fujioka Daikichi.

1st lunar month of 1718: Heiroku's rank in the Edo hyôbanki, dôkegata section, was jô-jô [4] (superior - superior) [visual].

11th lunar month of 1718: Heiroku performed at the Moritaza in the kaomise drama "Zenkunen Yoroi Kurabe".

11th lunar month of 1719: Heiroku performed at the Moritaza in the kaomise drama "Banmin Taiheiki".

11th lunar month of 1720: Heiroku performed at the Moritaza in the kaomise drama "Kaigô Sakiwake Shitennô".

1st lunar month of 1721: he appeared on stage for the last time, in Edo at the Moritaza, where he performed in the new year sogamono "Nigiwai Suehiro Soga". Heiroku's rank in the Edo 1721 hyôbanki [2], dôkegata section, was jô-jô-(shiro)kichi (superior - superior - (white) excellent) [visual].

23rd day of the 8th lunar month of 1721 [1]: Heiroku died in Edo.

Kanazawa Heiroku was an Edo dôkegata, who was active for 20 years.

[2] Same rank in the two 1721 hyôbanki, the one published in the 1st lunar month and the one in the 3rd lunar month. He shared the same rank with Takamura Matashirô.
