History

February 1997: Opening ceremony of the Sh˘chikuza, in the heart of the city of ďsaka. This modern theater was built to replace the Nakaza.

April 1998: Kataoka Nizaemon XV celebrated his shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza, playing the roles of Matsu˘maru in "Terakoya" and Kameya Chűbŕ in the "Fűin Giri" act of the play "Koi Bikyaku Yamato ďrai".

May 1998: Kataoka Nizaemon XV celebrated his second month of shűmei at the Sh˘chikuza, playing the roles of Fukuoka Mitsugi and Sukeroku in the plays "Ise Ondo Koi no Netaba" and "Sukeroku Kuruwa no Hatsuzakura".

April 2001: Band˘ Mitsugor˘ X celebrated his shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza, playing the role of Matsu˘maru in the "Terakoya" scene of the classic "Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami" and all the main roles of the series of dances gathered under the title "Rokkasen Sugata no Irodori" (S˘j˘ Henj˘, Ariwara no Narihira, Bun'ya, Kisen and ďtomo no Kuronushi).

July 2002: Onoe Sh˘roku IV celebrated his shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza, playing the roles of Ranpei in "Ranpei Monogurui" and the fox Tadanobu in the dance "Yoshinoyama".

January 2003: Nakamura Kaishun II celebrated his shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza, playing the roles of the courtesan Yűgiri and the snake demon disguised as the dancer Hanako in the play "Ninin Yűgiri" and the great dance "Ky˘ganoko Musume D˘j˘ji".

July 2004: Ichikawa Ebiz˘ XI celebrated his shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza, playing the roles of Yosabur˘ and the warrior monk Musashib˘ Benkei in the drama "Yowa Nasake Ukina no Yokogushi" and the dance "Kanjinch˘".

July 2005: Nakamura Kanzabur˘ XVIII celebrated his shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza, playing the roles of the Wisteria Maiden, Heisaku, ďe Hiromoto and Moriyama Tatsuji in the dramas "Fuji Musume", "Numazu", "Miyajima no Danmari" and "Noda-ban Togitatsu no Utare".

July 2006: Sakata T˘jűr˘ IV celebrated his shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza, playing the roles of Danshichi Kurobŕ and the shiraby˘shi Hanako in the drama "Natsu Matsuri" and the dance "Musume D˘j˘ji".

July 2012: Nakamura Matagor˘ III and his son Nakamura Kash˘ IV celebrated their shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza [more details].

September 2012: Nakamura Kankur˘ VI celebrated his shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza, playing the roles of Ofuku, Banba no Chűtar˘, a friendly stage attendant and six roles in "Dango Uri", "Mabuta no Haha", "Onna Shibaraku" and "Amagoi Gitsune" [more details].

January 2013: Ichikawa En'˘ II, Ichikawa Ennosuke IV and Ichikawa Chűsha IX celebrated their shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza [more details].

January 2015: Nakamura Kanjaku V took the name of Nakamura Ganjir˘ IV in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza [more details].

February 2015: Nakamura Ganjir˘ IV celebrated his second month of shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza [more details].

July 2016: Nakamura Jakuemon V celebrated his shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza [more details].

January 2017: Nakamura Shikan VIII, Nakamura Hashinosuke IV, Nakamura Fukunosuke III and Nakamura Utanosuke IV celebrated their shűmei in ďsaka at the Sh˘chikuza. This is also the 20th anniversary of the Sh˘chikuza which is celebrated [more details].
