11th lunar month of 1709: first recorded stage appearance; he performed as a katakiyaku in Kyôto at Kameya Kumenojô's theater in the kaomise drama "Takekaburi Mangokumochi", which was produced by Takeshima Kôjûrô.

11th lunar month of 1713: Ikuemon played in Kyôto the role of Manzô in the kaomise drama "Eitai Kogane no Ichigura", which was produced by Sakakiyama Shirotarô I at Kameya Kumenojô's theater.

11th lunar month of 1714: Ikuemon played the role of Godaiin Saemon Muneshige in the kaomise drama "Azuma-zukuri Ôdaidokoro", which was produced at Kameya Kumenojô's theater by Sakakiyama Shirotarô I.

11th lunar month of 1715: Ikuemon performed in Kyôto in the kaomise drama "Chiyogasane Kiku no Shinpai", which was produced by Yamatoyama Jinzaemon I for the nadai Hayagumo Chôdayû.

11th lunar month of 1717: Ikuemon played in Kyôto the role of Kurando in the kaomise drama "Genjôraku Biwa no Ôumi", which was produced by Yamatoyama Jinzaemon I in Ebisuya Kichirôbê's theater.

11th lunar month of 1718: Ikuemon played in Kyôto the role of Ohara Minbu in Adachi Saburôzaemon's kaomise drama "Shiga no Miyako Kogane no Hanazono", which was produced by Yamatoyama Jinzaemon I for the nadai Ebisuya Kichirôbê.

Fall 1720: Ikuemon went for the first time to Ôsaka.

11th lunar month of 1720: Ikuemon became jitsuaku and played at the Kado no Shibai the role of the umakata Rokuzô in the kaomise drama "Hana Yakata Chibikizuru", which was produced by Kirinoya Gonjûrô I.

1st lunar month of 1721: Ikuemon's rank in the Ôsaka hyôbanki, jitsuaku section, was jô-jô (superior - superior) [visual]. He shared the same rank with Sagawa Bunzô I.

Fall 1721: Ikuemon went back to Kyôto.

11th lunar month of 1721: Ikuemon became katakiyaku and performed in Kyôto in the kaomise drama "Yamato Uta Denju no Tomikura".

11th lunar month of 1722: Ikuemon became jitsuaku and played in Kyôto at Hoteiya Umenojô's theater the role of Sakurai Wadaemon in Yoshida Rôfu's kaomise drama "Aioi Ôshimadai", which was produced by Ogino Yaegiri I and welcomed in Kyôto the actor Kirinoya Gonjûrô I.

1st lunar month of 1731: Ikuemon played in Kyôto at Kameya Kumenojô's theater the role of the rônin Todoroki Jûnai in the new year ni-no-kawari "Keisei Mikasayama".

11th lunar month of 1731: Ikuemon played the role of Akamatsu Danjôzaemon in the kaomise drama "Hiragana Imagawajô", which was produced in Kyôto at Miyako Mandayû's theater; his stage partners were Nakamura Tomijûrô I, Nakamura Shingorô I, Sanogawa Mangiku, Somenoi Hanshirô, Arashi San'emon III, Anegawa Chiyosaburô I and Tomizawa Montarô I.

1732: tour in Nagoya, where he performed as a tachiyaku.

11th lunar month of 1733: Ikuemon performed as a jitsuaku in Kyôto in the kaomise drama "Chôseiden Kogane no Shikigawara", which was produced by Sakakiyama Shirotarô I.

1734: tour in Nagoya, where he performed as a jitsuaku.

11th lunar month of 1735: Ikuemon played the role of Sagara Daigaku in the kaomise drama "Bankoku Ôshimadai", which was produced by Nakamura Tomijûrô I.

11th lunar month of 1737: Ikuemon performed in Kyôto in the kaomise drama "Yamato Uta Kamiyo no Kagami", which was produced by Mizuki Tatsunosuke II (who celebrated his shûmei) at Hayagumo Chôdayû's theater; his stage partners were Anegawa Shinshirô I, Segawa Kikunojô I [1], Segawa Kikujirô I [1], Shinozuka Kazaemon, Matsumoto Tomojûrô I, Yamanaka Heijûrô I, Arashi Sanshirô III and Somenoi Utamatsu.

2nd lunar month of 1738: premiere in Kyôto of Matsuda Bunkôdô's drama "Yukihira Isonare Matsu"; Ikuemon played the role of Tai Hatadayû [more details].

11th lunar month of 1739: Ikuemon played at Ebisuya Kichirôbê's theater the role of Dotera no Gon in the kaomise drama "Senzai Yakata Kogane no Shikigawara", which was produced by Arashi Koroku I.

2nd lunar month of 1740: Ikuemon appeared on stage for the last time in Kyôto ôshibai, in the same theater, playing the role of Jûsuke in the new year drama "Keisei Sakura Mondô".

1740: Ikuemon went on tour in Ise and Nagoya. No record afterwards.

Comments:

Yashio Ikuemon was a talented jitsuaku/katakiyaku actor, who achieved fame for himself in Kyôto during the 1720s and the 1730s. He was a pioneer for the development of villain roles in sewamono dramas, like evil tedai or evil merchants.

[1] The Segawa brothers were back in Kyôto after several seasons spent in Edo.
